Covid Compliance Coordinator
In an effort to allow for essential services such as construction activities to continue, and to keep workers safe while on the job, officials in Hillsborough County launched a COVID-19 construction site safety program for “threshold building” construction projects. These buildings are classified as “any building which is greater than three stories or 50 feet in height, or which has an occupancy which exceeds 5,000 square feet and an occupant content of greater than 500 persons.”
Many other cities and counties in Florida are also recommending and encouraging all general contractors to adhere to an important component introduced in the safety program. This component specifies that these construction projects should “designate a ‘COVID-19 Compliance Coordinator’ to be present at all times during work hours, visibly identifiable (uniform, vest, or helmet), and accessible to all workers, as well as city officials, during work hours.” COVID-19 Compliance Coordinators manage and implement COVID guidelines to prevent workers from contracting the virus while at work at an active job site.
Able Safety has trained COVID-19 Compliance Coordinators available to assist at your project sites throughout Florida. COVID Compliance Coordinators are tasked with overseeing the implementation and enforcement of all COVID protocols as stated on the COVID-19 Action Plan specific to the site. These protocols may include:
-
Implementing and monitoring COVID-19 temperature screenings and questionnaires for workers on the job site.
-
Ensuring that all workers on-site maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet from one another.
-
Ensuring availability of handwashing stations equipped with soap and water and/or hand sanitizing stations throughout the job site in convenient locations.
-
Prominently posting CDC-approved COVID-19 information on-site.
-
Ensuring that job site trailers maintain a 50% or less occupancy.
-
Ensuring that construction-grade gloves, masks, and PPE are worn by required job site personnel at all times.
-
Confining food trucks to the outside perimeter of construction sites and ensuring a single point of contact for drop-offs and pick-ups to control and minimize interaction with workers.
-
Ensuring all sites are closed to the general public and monitoring access control.
-
Providing a daily COVID audit and observations report to the Project Manager.
